Onde d'Urto

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment also known in the medical field as ESWT (extracorporeal shock wave therapy).

It involves high-energy acoustic waves used to stimulate the healing of damaged tissues, and it is particularly effective in reducing pain, improving blood circulation, and promoting tissue regeneration.

There are two types of shockwaves: focused extracorporeal and radial (or ballistic).

  • Focused extracorporeal shockwaves, which can be focused in depth, are also used to treat bone pathologies in addition to tendons and muscles.
  • Radial shockwaves, unlike focused ones, are not directed at a single point but spread over the entire treated surface.

They are used to treat various clinical conditions such as:

  • Calcific tendinopathies of the shoulder
  • Epicondylitis and epitrocleitis
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Patellar tendinopathy
  • Plantar fasciitis (with or without heel spur)
