Orthopedic Manual Therapy, also known by the acronym OMT, consists of:

• The analysis of the functions of the musculoskeletal system, including symptoms, mobility alterations, and tissue changes.
• The treatment of these conditions through a specific therapeutic approach, which includes manual techniques such as mobilizations and manipulations, and therapeutic exercises.

Orthopedic Manual Therapy places particular emphasis on the scientific and clinical evidence of the techniques used. According to IFOMPT, the goals of this therapeutic approach are to alleviate pain symptoms and optimize the patient’s functional capabilities.
